French term literally meaning to go over everything. Consists of two layers of cardboard, in which the superior layer is cut as a frame, into which a drawing is inserted for a better presentation and optimum conservation. Generally speaking, the term indicates a frame in wood or cardboard (eventually painted or covered in canvas) placed between the painting and the wood frame.
