Generic term to indicate a group of tools adapt to cut various hard materials (wood, metal, stone, etc.) consisting of a hard metal blade equipped with serrated edge, traditionally attached to a handle or a frame. All saws have a cut slightly larger in width than that of an even blade, due to the setting effect of a saw, a slight deviation of the serrated edge with respect to a level of the blade, alternatively right and left. Among the most common saws for cutting wood are the frame-saw, the ripsaw and the turning-saw (or the keyhole-saw).
