Lemma
carbolic acid
or phenic acid or phenol. Crystalline chemical compound deriving from benzene. Finds use as an anti-decayer and, in general, to prevent microbiological attacks. In particular, it is added to water-based glues and adhesives both to help the conservation and to limit possible microbiological attacks after its use. Particularly toxic and locally necrotized, it must be handled with attention avoiding inhalation and contact with the skin: in the glues that are prepared by cooking or heating, a final ingredient is added in order to avoid the inhalation of vapors.
