Gas utilized as an insecticide for the disinfestation and the fumigation of wooden supports (and of wood objects in general). Its most diffused use in this field (today it is indicated as the most effective remedy for the elimination of eggs and larvae of hylophagous insects) is due to noted capacity to penetrate wood and its relative toxicity. Being almost soluble in water, it is easily eliminated by the treated object. See Gas Chamber. It was also experimented as a sterilizer with a fungicide action (anti-fungus).
