Solvent mixture of ample application in the restoration of frescoes. It is essentially composed of ammonium bicarbonate and ammonium carbamate. It is applied to the surface of a work under the form of a compress and, thanks to its weak alkalinity, allows for a gradual and controllable gelling of the old gallery varnishes, permitting the removal without leaving a salty residue.
