In some recipes, it is also indicated in the preparation of canvases (mixed with solutions of gesso and glue) in order to render the support more elastic. Giovanni Secco Suardo (1894) indicates its use as an emollient, to soften the excretions from insects and thus successively remove the excretions by mechanical means.
