Extract of "Linum usitatissimum" seeds. Among the binders, it is certainly the most utilized in the history of oil painting. Given the high quantity of non-saturated fatty acids, linseed oil contains siccative properties that are accentuated when it is cooked. It was once prepared in lead containers but today is directly enriched with lead salts, of cobalt and magnesium. In order to limit yellowing, it may be used in combination with Walnut oil or Poppyseed oil. |
