Solvent of the group of aliphatic amines, with a slow evaporation and high retention, that is capable of exercising its own action on pictorial films even after an apparent removal. It forms water solutions with a stronger base than ammonia. It was amply utilized by restorers in the past for its excellent capacity to melt oils, resins and fat materials in general. Today, it is absolutely not advised because it is extremely toxic and irritating to the skin. |
