In the structure evidenced in the cross-section of a tree trunk, the cambium is the zone between the liber and the alburnum, undetectable by the naked eye, made of an elastic tissue of cells provided with a thin cellulose membrane. It is the zone that generates new tissue and that, during the annual growth period, forms the rings.
