Indicates the variant of a colour determined in reason with values of environmental or atmospheric light. The term is explained by F. Milizia (1797) in his Dictionary of Fine Arts and Design where he specifies: "The proper colour of each object is weakened in respect to its distance; the interposed air contributes to this reduction. This is the true local colour."
