Common weave for textile supports for painting in the 16th Century essentially in Venice, however also utilized with a certain continuity in other European schools and by various French artists of the 19th Century. Compared to the canvas weave, it is characterized by a major resistance and also offers the painter the possibility to take advantage of the effect of the product from the stitches and the prominent ribbing to the diagonal trend.
