Through the transversal cut of a tree trunk which allows one to visualize the aging rings, the alburnum is the area between the cambium and the duramen. It is a young formation and is destined to conduct the sap from the roots to the leaves and the water to the final annual rings. Due to the growth of the trunk, generated from the center, during the period of annual renewal of vital activity, the width of the trunk is increased. Because the alburnum is tender wood, it has always been avoided when choosing panels for painting supports, and also because it is easily subject to the attack of hylophagous insects. |
