In chemistry, it is used to describe an element or compound that does not react when placed with other substances. In reference to intonaco or cement, it is identified with a substance of various nature and density, that, mixed with a binder, is distributed in the impasto allowing for a particular consistence, without undergoing transformations during the take (see intonaco).
