Protective gear used to protect those who wear them from toxic vapors. The gas masks used in restoration are generally made of rubber produced in one piece (with an elastic band that holds the mask adherent to the face so that it covers the nose and mouth) and furnished with filters of various types according to the substance that the mask must filter (1 or 2 possibly lateral so as to be able to work with a microscope). It is composed of anti-solvent carbons, anti-fog filters, cellulose pre-cleaners and wire gauze. Differing from the normal Mask, to be used in order to protect oneself exclusively from inhaling dust particles and air full of paint fumes, the gas mask is to be used during the cleaning of paintings with toxic solvents.
