Lime derived from cooking impure limestone, with the presence of calcium and magnesium oxides inferior to 90%. In comparison to fat lime (more adapt to painting), it allows for a quick take to the surface. The term is equally documented, even if rarely, to indicate a lime mortar with a high percentage of sand: in this sense the entry (calcina maghera) is registered in the Vocabulary of Filippo Baldinucci (1681). |
