Polysaccharide which is quite diffused in the vegetable kingdom where the substance consists of the support for plants. It is obtained industrially, as the wood of some plants and some agricultural byproducts undergo a chemical and mechanical treatments. It finds use, among other things, in the fabrication of paper, fibre textiles and plastic materials.
